Sad news

Good morning everyone, This is Diane’s son, Denzil, with the sad news that Mum passed away last Friday (11/2). She was at home with her family, the ambulance did what they could. Mum was an amazing mother and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Please make a donation to a charity of your choice, Mum would want that. Denzil

Friday morning

Good morning all it’s a frosty cold but sunny day in fact a proper winters day. Tomorrow there will be rugby to watch.  I must admit I haven’t watched any of the Winter Olympics it’s not my thing.  I must admit I have never fancied skiing I can fall over on carpet. My tripe arrives today and I have made the mirepoix ready so just some simmering to do.   I think I might use the slow cooker the hopefully it will be ready for supper. Well my cup is empty and I hear the shower calling so time to get on.  I will be staying in the warm and playing in the kitchen.  Have a good day and stay warm.

Thursday morning

Good morning all It is dull and cold this morning and we keep being threatened with an arctic blast and heavy snow but it never seems to materialise. Denzil is off for a week self-certified after that who knows but he is moving a bit more freely.  I had a lovely visit with Tak and we discussed our assorted disintegrating bodies but it was nice to see her face to face. I don’t know about anybody else but I’m feeling much more secure about the virus which seems to be wearing itself out.   When I watched the Royal Institution lecture it seems that work is being done on vaccines which will recognise cancer cells.  I wonder how many anti vaccine lot will turn that one down if they succeed?   Well I’m off to peel some vegetables as I hope my tripe is arriving today.  Once cooked I will freeze it for a later date. Have a goo day and stay warm it’s cold out there.

Wednesday morning

Good morning all sorry I’m late again but Denny is here doing her magic and of course she wanted a full report on my on going health issues.  However I’m not sure how we got round to talking about tripe and faggots but she too loves both. So I have put in an order for both and intend to share some with her as these things are not easy to get.  The sun is shining and it looks like another lovely day.  Denzil is off work for a week self certified which should give his back time to rest and relax.  Not sure what is on the menu today but I am easy to feed as I eat anything on legs except a table and anything that flies which isn’t a plane.  In fact there is little I will not eat except the ghastly French sausage.   Well I am going to make another foray to Tak’s and see how she is getting on post surgery. Have a good day stay well and safe

Tuesday morning

Good morning all it is lovely and bright and sunny and looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.  Denzil got an appointment to see the osteoprat and has had his back pummeled so he is feeling a bit better and is moving more freely.  The problem with backs is that the muscles go into spasm which is what causes the pain. James did us a very nice Sunday lunch of roast chicken and of course, there was chicken noodle soup for supper.  It is difficult to keep myself on track with my calorie limit when I am not in charge of the food anyway I'm doing my best. I took a walk up to Tak's house which is the furthest I have walked in months and rang her doorbell which is a fancy new one.  There was no reply so I trotted back home. Shortly after I got a phone call from Tak apparently the doorbell records who is at the door she was out having her knee arthroscoped and it looks like her football career is over.  Anyway hopefully they have tidied up her knee joint and she sho...

Monday morning

Good morning all.  Today seems to be a bit quieter weather-wise with nothing much happening.  The rugby was much as expected with France winning quite easily.  So far no big surprises except our loss to the scots.   Denzil is moving very gently and is going to make an appointment to see an osteopath.  At least he stands a chance of an appointment and most GPs have little knowledge of back injuries.  At least osteopaths are specialists in this area. I have no real plans for the day I will just go with the flow and try to stick to my calorie limit which is pretty boring but then losing weight is so no point complaining. Have a good day whatever you have planned at least February is a short month and then we should be really heading into spring.

Sunday morning

Good morning all.  Poor Denzil has done his back and is hobbling around bent in half. Sadly I think the only remedy is rest and gentle exercise.  Backs are horrible and I’m sure we have all been there!   I presume I am no longer a danger to society now that the isotope has cleared my system.  The scan was fine but they do keep you li solitary confinement for an hour while the stuff circulates.  I ended up reading all the labels on the bins, I bore easily and that was torture.  Anyway once I had been processed through the doughnut I was free to go.  I asked the technician if I could see the pictures and the look of horror on his face made me laugh you would have thought I had asked to see his underpants.  English was not his first language and I was tired so I didn’t put up a fight. Once home I had the rugby to look forward to.  Congratulations to Ireland they thrashed Wales who played badly.  Then the humiliation of loosing the Cal...

Saturday morning

Good morning all.  The hospital has really got my name in the frame now I have to go and have a covid test three days before they put me through my paces on a static bike which I am not looking forward to.  This is all for the surgical side of things and they don't muck about but get on with things.  Today I am on water only after 10am but what makes me mad is having to record instead of watching the rugby.  Any other day would have been fine. James is making me a cooked breakfast which should keep me going until supper time.  I wonder if they will let me see the scan? Now here is a little radiation story for you my Father designed and built nuclear power stations and one day while he was in the office of one of them waiting for a meeting.  He was bored, it runs in the family, and noticed a Geiger counter on the desk so he thought he would see how many rads his luminous watch put out and so passed it over the face.  He set every alarm in the place off ...

Friday morning

Good morning all.  It looks like a pleasant day with some sun and a little wind.  I have set up my recorder to cover both the opening matches of the rugby season and they are 2 very important matches but at least I will have something to watch once I am back home. In the few moments it has taken me to write these words it has started raining oh well that’s England for you. I have a pile of washing to do and I guess the tumble dryer will have to do the drying.  I’m not sure what is on the menu but I think there is some leftover steak and kidney which will be nice with some mash. Have a good day whatever you have planned it will soon be spring and let’s hope it brings a much better year.

Thursday afternoon

Good day all for once it isn’t my fault the internet has been down all morning and only just come on again. Today we have no sun but it is rather warm which enticed me into the garden.  That and the fact that assorted doctors have asked me how far I can walk on the flat.  A number you all have at your fingertips!  Any way my garden is 175 feet in length so to the end and back is 350 which I make approximately 100yards or meters if you want metric.  I was glad of a chair on my return but not completely out of breath.  Of course now I know this no one will ever ask me again.  I know that I am getting stronger by the day and manage the stairs with ease. I got a call from the vascular team who want me to do some cycling to test my fitness but I think they are putting the cart before the horse as the lung lot need to do their stuff first.  If that proves a dead end there is no point in doing expensive surgery.  I must say I feel very well in myse...

Wednesday morning

Good morning all it's a lovely bright sunny morning and I have had a night to digest what the vascular bloke said.  I must say he was very nice and once he knew I knew it was more of a collaborative meeting and I got to look at my CT scan and see exactly what the problems are.  I must say he was shocked that his colleagues had missed what was so obvious despite the fact that I had told them two years ago. Not all elderly people have bats in the bellfry.  Anyway, once the PET scan is done it is down to them to sort out who does what and when.  Apparently, I would have to go to the Kent and Canterbury for the vascular stuff which doesn't fill me with joy as it has a poor reputation.  I have a Benenden membership and now might be the time to use it.  Anyway, lots to think about. James is making an avocado and prawn salad for lunch which will fit in nicely with my dietary requirements.  But first I need a bucket of coffee to kick start my day. Have a great...

Tuesday afternoon

Good afternoon all I thought I would leave it until I had seen the vascular guy.  Well the upshot is that the aneurysm needs dealing with sooner rather than later but of course what he really needed is the pet scan which is being done on Saturday. Anyway I guess they need to get together with the respiratory people and decide who gets first go at me. I personally don’t care just as long as they get on with it. I just hope they talk to each other and decide what to do and then let me know. At the moment I feel like piggy in the middle. Anyway you are now up to running speed.
