Wednesday morning

Good morning all, it’s another misty start to the day so I expect it will soon become sunny.  Actually what we really need is some rain but I would be be happy for that to happen over night.  It is amazing we had so much rain over the winter but the ground is as dry as a biscuit.   The sprayer for the hose has suffered over the winter and is now leaking all over the place so I think it is time to buy a new one. Nothing lasts for ever does it and there is always something in need of replacing or repair.  I have a watering timer in the green house but that too is playing up I hope it is just new batteries that are needed.  It does save a lot of time and makes sure the tomatoes get a good supply of water rather than the intermittent supply if it is left to me.

I am not sure what we are going to have for lunch as yet nothing has been got out of the freezer if push comes to shove there is always bacon and eggs.  However, when I go to top up my coffee cup I will have a shuffle through the freezer and see what I can find.  I did have ideas of going back to bed for a while but Dan has commandeered my bed so no chance.

Anyway, it’s time I got on with something more constructive and went and gave my tomatoes a drink and see if I can repair the timer.  Have a good day lets hope the sun shines on us all.

Friday morning

 Good morning all it’s a frosty cold but sunny day in fact a proper winters day. Tomorrow there will be rugby to watch.  I must admit I haven’t watched any of the Winter Olympics it’s not my thing.  I must admit I have never fancied skiing I can fall over on carpet. My tripe arrives today and I have made the mirepoix ready so just some simmering to do.   I think I might use the slow cooker the hopefully it will be ready for supper. Well my cup is empty and I hear the shower calling so time to get on.  I will be staying in the warm and playing in the kitchen.  Have a good day and stay warm.

Thursday morning

Good morning all well it is raining which is kind of par for the course.  This week has been one to forget as soon a possible.  Yesterday should have been a good day and despite feeling rubbish, I pushed on and got things organised for Shiona's visit.  So you can imagine how delighted I was when she didn't turn up.  She forgot.  So the boys and I had a nice lunch and I then took to my room and watched a lecture by Jordan Peterson which took my mind off my disappointment.  It is reassuring to hear someone of such intellect say that life is hard and nasty.  His latest book "12 rules for life an antidote to chaos" is a book that I have read once and I still pick up and reread the odd chapter when chaos is looming. So today I will be cooking the quails for lunch as the three of us will be here but as yet I haven't decided what to do with them.  I quite fancy Gnocchi Alla Romana but if I want them I will have to get a move on as the polenta has to...
