Tuesday morning

Good morning all another really beautiful day with glorious sunshine.  I feel quite happy this morning I did some research yesterday on the locking wheel nut problem and it is easily solved apparently Halfords sell a socket spanner which will take the wretched thing off.  So that is that problem solved I managed to get my phone up and running properly.  The only problem with smartphones is they need smart people to use them and therein lies the problem.  The shower problems are going to be finally sorted on Thursday which I hope will see an end to the ongoing nonsense.  A five-year warranty gives me some peace of mind.  The only outstanding thing is the rat problem which I fear is not yet solved so a bit more work on that.

James made nice macaroni cheese for lunch yesterday and today he has asked me to show him how to make steak and kidney pie so a cookery lesson is on the cards for me.  The microwave is due to arrive today so I hope I can persuade Denzil to take the old one to the tip and get rid of it. Now that the garage has been cleared I don't want to start accumulating rubbish again.  It is all too easy to use it as a dumping ground.  

Well, that is the plan for the day just a gentle normal day with minimum drama I hope.  I read a fabulous book on holiday by Richard Shepherd call Unnatural Causes fascinating if you like forensic pathology.

    Glad the locking wheel nut can be sorted now.

    I've been using locking wheel nuts for years, ever since one of the wheels was taken off my car during one night, in our drive. There was nothing special about the car, just a Rover Metro, which was already quite elderly. But with your experience, it strikes me as odd that there is a 'one fits all' spanner easily available that takes them off, sort of defeats the object.

Friday morning

 Good morning all it’s a frosty cold but sunny day in fact a proper winters day. Tomorrow there will be rugby to watch.  I must admit I haven’t watched any of the Winter Olympics it’s not my thing.  I must admit I have never fancied skiing I can fall over on carpet. My tripe arrives today and I have made the mirepoix ready so just some simmering to do.   I think I might use the slow cooker the hopefully it will be ready for supper. Well my cup is empty and I hear the shower calling so time to get on.  I will be staying in the warm and playing in the kitchen.  Have a good day and stay warm.

Thursday morning

Good morning all well it is raining which is kind of par for the course.  This week has been one to forget as soon a possible.  Yesterday should have been a good day and despite feeling rubbish, I pushed on and got things organised for Shiona's visit.  So you can imagine how delighted I was when she didn't turn up.  She forgot.  So the boys and I had a nice lunch and I then took to my room and watched a lecture by Jordan Peterson which took my mind off my disappointment.  It is reassuring to hear someone of such intellect say that life is hard and nasty.  His latest book "12 rules for life an antidote to chaos" is a book that I have read once and I still pick up and reread the odd chapter when chaos is looming. So today I will be cooking the quails for lunch as the three of us will be here but as yet I haven't decided what to do with them.  I quite fancy Gnocchi Alla Romana but if I want them I will have to get a move on as the polenta has to...
